U.S. National Junior Sled Hockey Team Wins Western Sled Hockey League Championship Game, 7-0, over Utah

Team USA Posts 12-0-0-1 Overall WSHL Record

PHOENIX - The U.S. National Junior Sled Hockey Team blanked Utah, 7-0, here this morning in the Western Sled Hockey League championship game. Team USA posted a 12-0-0-1 overall record in WSHL play during the 2009-10 season.

The U.S. took a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to goals by Kevin McKee (Eldridge, Iowa) and Danny McDevitt (Abington, Pa.) just 88 seconds apart. Team USA outshot Utah, 20-4, in the opening frame.

Daniel McCoy (Cheswick, Pa.) gave the U.S. a 3-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 9:46 of the second period. Less than three minutes later, Conner Fee (Spotswood, N.J.) extended Team USA's advantage to 4-0 heading into the final period.

McKee notched his second goal of the game at 3:31 of the third period. Linemate Raymond Beck (Sicklerville, N.J.) pushed the U.S. lead to 6-0 at the six-minute mark with his first goal and third point of the night. McDevitt closed out the scoring with less than a minute remaining in the game with his second tally.

Danny Hefley (Wexford, Pa.) started between the pipes for the U.S., turning aside nine shots before being replaced by Chuck Dury (Raymond, Ohio) five minutes into the third period. Dury stopped all four shots faced in 10 minutes of action.

NOTES: The U.S. National Junior Sled Hockey Team will next travel to Vancouver, B.C., to face Sledge Team Ontario in a three-game series March 18-20 in conjunction with the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games ...
