Roku Baseball Was Acceptable

I wanted to see how Roku Sunday Baseball was going to do, and it was acceptable but not as good as a New York Mets broadcast.

This broadcast was easy to matchup to a Mets broadcast and right out of the gate the sound was a bid muddled. It seemed to get better over the course of the broadcast but that hit me right out of the gate.

Gary Cohen and Joe Girardi were good. Joe has that catcher/manager perspective and that usually works on a television broadcast.

Having the first game of the day is a weird way to market these games. Nobody likes doing anything early on a Sunday. That’s just a fact. So, I’m not sure how the ratings will do. If they care. This may be a vanity project and nothing more.

At one point, they had a shot behind the cameraman. The viewer saw nothing, they won’t get an Emmy award for that.

The graphics were fine. The game portion was good enough. It’s the extra add-in production value that needs work. The celebration shot as the game ended was a weird angle.

People will watch this game, if they have a Roku device or MLB subscription. I doubt baseball fans will find a Roku device to watch these games on otherwise. They’re already paying a lot of money to watch their favorite teams.
