Smithsonian Channel Points Out The Greatness of Babe Ruth

In a series of great baseball short films the Smithsonian Channel has done a superlative job in the upcoming episode on Babe Ruth. Major League Legends is the series.

To me, Ruth has had the most impact on any sport on earth. It’s undeniable. The film points out how popular he was in his day and even in death.

I’ve spent a considerable amount of time researching Ruth. I love the history of baseball. This film will captivate viewers. It does a nice job of tying in mythology and this sport. A few times there was a reach but it was an original concept.

I loved the superimposing of baseball images of the past into scenes of the present. What I didn’t love and felt was distracting the showing images on the outside of buildings.

In the end this is a must watch for any baseball fan. It’s historically accurate and does break some new ground. I felt like they didn’t want to tread on debunking the “called shot” too much and that’s fine. Most know what really happened that day but the myth is one of the greatest in the history of sports.

MAJOR LEAGUE LEGENDS: BABE RUTH
