This show is held annually in the Hamptons and Manhattan. There were tons of great vendors and trainers. Lady Gaga’s trainer, Tricia Donegan and world renowned trainer, Carlos Leon.
I watched a fascinating panel that included, Justin Gelband, who trains Victoria’s Secret Models can get anybody off the couch. He was a part of a very cool panel including New York Jets nutritionist, Glen Tobias, Gary Goldenberg, M.D., Dr. Lionel Bissoon, and Fox Business reporter, Jade Scipioni hosted it.
Tobias started a firestorm by talking about non-GMO foods. I know from personal experience if I bring it up on social media many say there’s no proven difference. He had an interesting take.
“If there are money issues I’m not saying you can’t eat conventional products. Do I feel that nn-GMO is better? I like it because that’s what is natural and its banned in other countries.”
There was a Vitamin D debate between Tobias and a noted dermatologist.
“You should put sunscreen on first thing in the morning,” said Goldenberg.
Tobias shot back with, “Maybe not always because of Vitamin D.”
The happy medium was if you decide not to wear it do it when the sun isn’t the strongest. So not a lunchtime for sure.
Tobias also said to avoid hunger. When you’re hungry you make bad choices.
All of them agreed that Probiotics are a must for everybody.
“Obviously I’m very surprised by them this season,” said Scipioni, a big Eagles fan. “I’m very impressed with what they’re doing. Now that Chip Kelly is gone I think the team is a lot better. I’m excited to see the rest of the season.”
She also had an opinion on rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.
“I’m not blown away by him to be honest. I know a lot of people are. He hasn’t sold me yet,” Scipioni added.
Here are a few products that shined at this show:
Sap on Tap maple water contains 46 bioactive nutrients and minerals, is full of antioxidants, and has twice the manganese of a cup of kale. The maple water can provide many of the same benefits as the well-known superfood, but without needing to eat a salad! It’s all right there in the bottle. It tastes great. www.sapontapwater.com
Harmless Harvest Coconut Water
This is a fair trade product that harvests their coconuts when their young. They have a special process to make it and the taste is the best on the market, in my opinion. They use less plastic in their bottling as well. www.harmlessharvest.com
This show was a tremendous success. It wasn’t too big, folks were there taking classes by world renowned trainers, they tried out some products, listened to the experts and took home a goodie bag. The Justin’s Peanut Butter Cups were to die for.
