2025 NHL Draft New Pressure Points

So, what will the San Jose Sharks do? Are they really going to go with Anton Frondell. I wouldn’t do it. I would take Michael Misa. Frondell is terrific but he will never have the offensive potential of Misa. We shall see.

I think from picks 2-5, it can get mixed up and turned upside down. I expect that. The Philadelphia Flyers are in a good spot there because they can see who was left for them. Either way, they should draft a center.

Radim Mrtka is an interesting one. I don’t like him in the Top 10, but at his size and the way this league covets size and right-handed defense, he may end up there. I originally thought Buffalo, but since they traded for a right-handed D, my thinking might change. Now, the big question is, will Seattle pick  Mrtka?

“I valued my experience of playing in Seattle,” Mrtka said.

He wants to improve his game. Especially offensively, and that’s what I wonder. How much offense will he produce?

I still think Joshua Ravensbergen is the first goalie off the board. That hasn’t changed.

I still think teams who pass on James Hagens will regret it, unless they take Porter Martone, he’s on his own island for this draft.

I still don’t see Martone falling to 9. I don’t think the Flyers want him if he’s there at six, for what that’s worth.

My draft sleeper is Nicolas Sykora. He Is the son of Petr. I like how he can shake loose from defenders. I like his hockey sense, and he draws penalties routinely. He said when his dad would drive him to games, they would talk about the bad drivers in New Jersey. He’s a fun guy, and he’s excited to play for Quinnipiac in 2026-27.

Listen for me on Sirius, the hour before the draft and post post-draft.
