Porter Martone – Looked good skating backwards on one leg. No, seriously, he was good. He has the best hands in camp. Can get to the net better than anyone else. His forehand-to-backhand exchange is elite.
Shane Vansaghi – He plays heavy. Skates ok, needs edge work. His shot accuracy isn’t great. He will score in close range.
Jack Murtagh – He told me he may play at 205. With his passing skills and toughness on the puck. He went right around Jack Nesbitt.
Jack Nesbitt – He is big and skinny. He has some pushback in camp, which is good. His skating in and out of tight spaces needs work. So does his two-step quickness. He is very raw. His defensive instincts are the best for any forward in camp.
Karsen Dorwart – He does everything fine, nothing great. Not sure where I think he is currently. That may take some time.
Jack Anderson – He plays at Lindenwood University? I’ve never heard of that. At 6’6”, 225, he had the second-best defensive prowess next to Spencer Gill, who was the best. He stopped playing cold. Keep an eye on him. He’s a solid camp invite!
Spencer Gill – I love his low, accurate shot. His skating looks great, so there’s no residual ankle issues and he said he’s 100% and looks it.
Heikki Ruohonen – After seeing him live at the World Juniors, he looks faster. I can’t wait to see him at Harvard.
Matthew Gard – He impressed me with his cornering. His skating was very effective in drills.
Jack Berglund – Is so much stronger than Ty Murchinson.
Hunter McDonald – His skating and passing skills are very good. But he can’t pin a player in the corner, and he never comes away with the puck. Porter Martone waited him out, showing his hockey I.Q.
Note: Carter Amico is still injured and won’t skate. Jett Luchanko has a slight groin injury and may not skate.
