New York Jets Must Decide a Few Things Footballology by Russ_Cohen - October 31, 2026October 31, 20260 Share on Facebook Share Share on TwitterTweet Share on Pinterest Share Share on LinkedIn Share Send email Mail Print Print The New York Jets have fleeting pockets of success followed by long stretches of dread, bad football, bad coaches, and bad decisions. The fact that they didn’t fire head coach Aaron Glenn going into their bye week shows they have no future plans. The Jets have a 4% chance of making the playoffs. In other words, they’re cooked. Will Glenn try to gaslight the fanbase and say they will get better, or is he so far gone that he is just waiting for the axe to fall? The Jets currently have the 7th, 10th, and 12th overall picks in the draft. Their own is the tenth, and that could improve with continued bad play. Is that the plan? Let Glenn lead them to oblivion? The longer Mike Tomlin sits out there, the better chance he has of going to another team. I think he’s their best bet. He has a Parcells-like grasp on a team, and that is lacking, and it’s needed. They need a winning pedigree, and currently, they are starving for that while Garrett Wilson could be a season away from requesting a trade. The Jets shouldn’t trade him, and I wonder if they will make any deals at all by November 10th. The only player they have who might get a mid-round pick is Will McDonald. He has four QB hits, 12 tackles, and two sacks. He’s another draft bust. The Jets have far too many of them, and current GM Darren Mougey will likely have one or two as well, but they won’t be in the upcoming draft. Glenn is 0-3 vs. the Miami Dolphins and 0-8 vs. the AFC East. That’s a disgrace, and the fact that he can further that record puts him in Rich Kotite territory as the worst coach in the history of the franchise. Kotite was 3-25 vs. the AFC East. If given the chance, Glenn could beat that. The Jets are 20th in attendance. That’s embarrasing for a big market team. Woody Johnson has been ignoring this situation, and that’s part of the problem. Nobody is trying to fix this situation.
