Jets Could Have Issues That Rodgers Can’t Fix in Practice

Right now, the window is for the Jets not only to win the division but also to make a deep playoff run. The Bills are a mess, no one can trust the Dolphins, and you have a Mt. Rushmore QB on what could very possibly be his final year in the NFL. The glaring issue is simple – Keep Aaron Rodgers upright and healthy. If you can manage that the AFC East is the Jets to lose.

With that said the center position is a massive question mark. Rodgers has had issues with snaps from center, Joe Tippman, all of camp. The sophomore second-round center has been touted by the likes of Quinnen Williams for his tenacious blocking. With snaps 10+ feet over the head of Aaron Rodgers are simply a massive liability. With only young and inexperienced backups behind him, I suggest the Jets bring in Mason Cole, a former starter for the Steelers. He is in no way a permanent solution, but has a little competition ever hurt anyone?

Hypothetically, if he can perfect an exchange with Rodgers, but their blocking suffers a bit, is anyone going to be all that upset? The Jets can very effectively run the football as it is. I believe the move would give a little push to Joe Tippman, but also allow the Jets a bit of security if the snapping issue continues. I do believe Tippman is a solid player and can one day develop into a strong starting center, but if you are the Jets, you CANNOT afford to blow games on bad snaps, not when this window is too tight.  One bad snap in the fourth quarter of a divisional game could mean all the difference. All it takes is One. Bad. Snap.
