The 2023 Winter Classic Could Be Second Warmest in Recent Years

I was at the 2020 Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. At puck drop, it was 54 degrees. It could be 50-53 at puck drop in Boston, Massachusettes on January 2nd at 2 PM. Depending on the sun there could be a delay because a small corner of the rink had some sun on it the other day. Will the Greem Monster shade it just enough? It’s unclear at this time.

In 2010, it snowed at one of the Fenway practices and the weather at puck drop was 31.9 degrees. That’s quite a difference in the weather pattern.

Sportsology will provide full coverage of the event, as always, starting on Sunday at the final practice for both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Boston Bruins. This should be a heck of a game and the two points matter a lot in the standings especially to Pittsburgh currently.

If we spot any legends, we will point them out including Bobby Orr who will be in attendance. Skating with Joe Watson and Ken Hodge was fun. (photo by del Tufo).
