Three Wide Receivers The Jets Should Target

After Adonia Mitchell ran a 4.35 in the 40 at the 2024 NFL Combine, I’m told he will rise in the draft. The Jets have the 10th overall pick. Maybe they trade down and get him somewhere between 15 and 20. My thinking is forget about getting Mike Evans. Get your veteran offensive lineman in free agency and get this perfect bookend to Garrett Wilson. Aaron Rodgers can teach the kid in camp. They still have some veterans there too.

Ladd McConkey looks like a burner. He ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash. As a slot receiver, he seems to find the open space and then runs toward the end zone. He can be that answer for the Jets’ short passing behind the sticks and this guy might actually be able to find a seam to get first downs on bad play calls. Jets fans know what I’m talking about. The Jets can trade down, get another pick, the same as I said about Mitchell, and then draft a lineman with that other pick.

Jacob Cowing is interesting. He’s not a tall guy at 5’8″ 1/2 but he is fast. He ran a 4.41 at the combine. For this one, trade a next year’s pick and this year’s third to move up in the third round to get him if he’s still there. This guy is like Gumby and seems to catch balls that are anything but perfect. If he gets taken in the second, oh well, if he’s around in the third grab him.

The Jets didn’t solve their receiving problem in free agency last year. Do it in the draft. It can be done and Rodgers should be able to manage it all if he can stay healthy.
