I Recently Had a Great Adventure

It was Content Creators Day at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey, and it was going to be a full day of exploring the park. I’m going to do three spots about it. First, an overview, then the Safari experience, and finally the rides.

I’ve been to the park before. And I had good times there, but it’s different now. It’s more vibrant, clean, and fun for kids. I can tell they focused on keeping kids occupied, and it’s working.

There’s plenty to do for adults. The folks who run the rides have the right energy. Some are young, and some are old, but they all share that.

Where Should You Eat?

There is a place called the Main Street Pub. I didn’t eat there, but I did see they had Fish and Chips on the menu. Keep that in mind because I did have a long chat with Chef Jeremy Hacker, and he had a lot to say.

I did have a pre-lunch beer, and the selection was great at the Ale House. They had stools or tables. I liked the vibe; they had sports on, and I was hooked.

Lunch was at Best of the West. Money-wise, it was the best value I saw at the park. I had smoked chicken with cornbread and tater tots. While there were plenty of sauces to put on the chicken, I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to see how the smoked chicken’s flavor was first. I’m glad I did that because it was the perfect blend of smoke and seasoning. It didn’t need anything, and Jeremy was glad I did that, and we chatted.

I asked him about the cornbread because I love cornbread. My photographer, Katelynn Reiss, enjoyed her meal as well. Actually, everyone at the table loved it. Back to the bread, it tasted like it had honey in it, and the Chef told me it didn’t. That surprised me, given the fluffy, sweet taste.

When I casually mentioned to the Chef about seeing the Fish and Chips poster. He said he runs that place and another as well. He said there’s a “science” to making good fish and chips, and I agree. I have had some mediocre versions where the pub says it’s their specialty.

This Chef is a rockstar. He manned a huge smoker in Knoxville, Tennessee, and he’s bringing it for his customers, so check Best of the West and the others.

P.S., Fat Burger is there, and that’s a really good place as well.

Up next are the rides and the Safari.
