Joe Must Go

Jets fans have heard the phrase before and now It’s going to happen again. Joe Douglas, the general manager of the New York Jets has built a substandard offensive line and even at the trading deadline failed to add anybody of consequence so he could hold on to his draft capital. Well, that cost them in the loss to the Buffalo Bills.

I could get on Douglas for all the Aaron Rodgers receiver hires, all have been bad, therefore leaving Garrett Wilson to fend for himself most games. You know what, I will and to go one better than that, he didn’t try and correct that situation with players that would come to the Jets. Davante Adams was never made available by the Raiders so trying to get him as an example was a waste of time.

Let’s talk about Zach Wilson. The Jets believed in him for too long. They could have gotten another quarterback at the deadline and didn’t. My thoughts on Tim Boyle in training camp were the same thoughts after seeing him play in relief of Wilson against the Bills. But nobody thought about more depth at the quarterback position at any point this season and getting Trevor Siemian was a waste.

Jets players are frustrated. The Bills game likely broke them. I saw some of their big stars getting mad at some of the coaching decisions that were happening as the team was going down for the last time this season.

Robert Saleh likely gets another season to see what happens with Rodgers and his comeback from injury. He can take his time now. There’s no rush.

Saleh said that Dalvin Cook would be a bigger part of the offense against the Bills. He had two carries for 13 yards, not bad, but they stopped using him. I’m not mad about not using him. I’m upset that yet another game plan by offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett went sideways. Rodgers is the only thing that’s keeping him from the unemployment line at this point.

The Jets can now play the spoiler and watch a potential playoff defense run through the motions. That hurts. This offseason won’t be about waiting for a Rodgers decision. That’s good. Now it will be about, whether he can stay healthy for 17 games.

I don’t think the Jets will be drafting a quarterback with their first-round pick. I think they will be trying to fortify the offensive line for Rodgers. Something that was never done since the start of the season.
